ah.

i feel noobieish but when i start up enginerr and i open up shrine it says "Could not find your image map directory! This is where we are looking C:/blahblahblah"

can someone help?

and then when i press ok like another window opens but i cant see any tags.

I made it tell you the filepath for a reason.. :roll:

where is it looking? and where are you maps?

its looking at C:/documentsandsettings/owner/desktop/maps/images

and my maps are on my desktop in a folder called maps

do you have the images folder inside the map directory?

If not goto settings and set LoadMapInfo and LoadMapImage to False.

then try to open a map

where could i get the images from?

i just thought we had to put the shared.map and mainmenu.map in the directory.

but i tried the false thing u said and it worked fine.

and the last question i have is can i extract bitmaps and view them also?

sorry for all the fuss and questions :(

I cried. I'm trying to learn all this map stuff and I feel so useless because I'm really having a hard time getting it through my skull while trying to see if I can help.

I wish it was a simple as Photoshop... :(

Try using Photoshop to reverse engineer something. :3

for eveyone, Some people learn about the engine more than others. Im still at a lowly 20%, Anthony said around 80% Thats why he can make such kickass apps.

Sorry, Ok Shade when do you think BSP viewing will be possible. Maybe even with some of the effects(XNA)

XNA would be no more useful for interpreting the game's engine than any other structure would.

Rendering APIs come later. The research into where exactly the map geometry is stored in the map files, as well as the textures, comes first.

Somebody should compile this into a Halo 3 White paper sometimes available for download, I might eventually if nobody else wants to.
