3.5 includes everything from 3.0.

Download all of them in order. I had all of the .NET Frameworks 2.0 and above and I couldn't run this one application that required version 1. Install them in order. Including the service packs and it should launch.

I installed Windows XP SP2 on a computer, loaded it solely with 3.5, and can run all of the applications. The most recent framework supports all previous versions.
If you notice, he never specified his error. The framework is not the sole cause of crashes on startup, so to assume that the version is his problem is quite abstract.

That's odd... I had 3.5 installed and I tried to run this application that required Framework 1.1 and it didn't work. I installed 1.1, and it worked. Must be Vista.

That would make no sense.

That's generally not a framework error. A framework error is almost always "The application failed to initialize properly."

You're right. I have a few suggestions that may help.

1. Visit Microsoft Update and download all of the available updates.
2.Get the newest Direct X download (March 2008)
3. Re-download Engineer.

See if any of those makes any difference.

Well, I had the same error when trying to launch Prey's Profane tool. Someone told me to update my Direct X and it worked. I just checked it and I did not see anything in the program director related to Direct X. I guess you cannot really tell if an application uses it or not.

If you know anything about the process of making it, you can.. There is nothing within the program to indicate it uses any DirectX at all.

To get your mods work on Halo 3, yes.
To get Engineer to work, no.

Not exactly, what about dev boxes with the modified .xex to ignore checksums?
