I had the same problem. To fix it, I removed the entire Halo 3 content folder from that profile and put it back afterwards.

Yeah maybe sometime when im not so lazy Ill release a fix, until then you can use this slightly newer version that just opens the screen shot file itself

http://halotech.org/Anthony/H3ScreenshotTool.rar

Just use xplorer 360 find your halo 3 screenshots, save them to your PC

then open the file with this app

:P

that sounds inconvenient, but why do that when a program to do it is already made? The older version had to read the screenshot files too, it just dumped them itself.no offence. but on a positive note if you know that much C# why dont you write an app for something else?

The older release of this App just reads the files from this HDD-Extensions, which I dont have and I found no way to dump the Screenshots from a directory or directly connected to my PC.
If you noticed, I posted my own relearch on the Halo 3 files in the research thread and hoped to get a little bit help.

Im keep learning right now C#, and learned yesterday how to writte a full WindowsApplication, which is very exiting and makes lot of fun ^^

The next thing I want todo is to make my OWN Screenshot Application, like Anthony does.
His program is near perfection, but I will customise mine a little bit more like :

-Slayer.jpg and Co-op.jpg will automaticly be renamed to Slayer 000.jpg and Co-op 000.jpg
-better x64 support (I work with XP x64) so the app will work faster ... which make no sense because it runs very fast, but I want to use the full support of x64 Systems
-lil bit Skinnable

I will try to convert Engineer to an x64 Version, which is rightnow IMPOSSIBLE for me, but I will still learn and want to try to make the world of Halo 3 modding easier for the x64 Users, which I think are not that many ...

The renaming would take not more than two minutes.
As far as getting it to run faster... pointless.

Hmm.
Do the programs give any notice when you try to access the files?

I think I may know your problem. If you have a 120gb hard-drive, you need a special version of Xplorer 360 to be able to see most of the files. I can post a link to it, but it will only work with 120gb drives. If you don't have a 120gb drive, then this will not help. Do you have one?

So, Anthony are you still working on fixing the profile(s) bug? It's been some time.

I have my 20GB HDD plugged straight into my computer using a SATA cable, is there any way I'd be able to use this app? Everytime I've tried it just gives me an error. I'd very much like to use this instead of the others out there since this seems to do batch extracting. I don't want to have to extract all the CON's from my HDD, then individually extract the JPG's from the CON's.

An update would be nice.

Anyone gonna answer? I mean, Anthony, you built this too,, I'd think you'd actually want to keep it working. So many people have told you problems with it, why are you ignoring them?

... chill the fuck out and stop being so unappreciative.
If they're that important to you just manually strip the CON padding and throw a jpg file header on it yourself.

IBotPeaches of IBotModz.net wrote:Since the other parts of this tutorial explained how to move content between your 360 and computer. I will skip right by that, we will start at the screenshot container on your xPort/Xplorer 360. Guess and check until you have your screenshot container file on your desktop. Something that can help, most modded screenshots end up being 0.27 mb and normal screen shots remain at 0.12mb (This is most of the time, yours might be different.

Now copy this file to your desktop, assuming you have the right file. (I keep mine on my desktop)

Now open up HxD Hex Editor and open the screen shot container file you just got.

We are going to extract the pure screen shot from this file. Start off by pressing "Ctrl+F" and search the word JFIF

This should automatically bring you to something simliar as this screenshot below.

This part is tricky!. Please follow it. You will want to take your mouse and select back from JFIF until you reach the end of the word "yoya" This picture below should help explain it better. Please don't select any part of the word JFIF. On the bottom of the picture it shows what block your currently on. Ours says "E148" so we will write down that sequence of numbers for the future.

Now we have to find the end of the screen shot. So "CTRL+F" the word "_eof"

This will bring up the "_eof" part of your screen shot.

Now select the first pair before the actual "_eof"

Reduced 38%
Attached Image
960 x 725 (540.58K)

Now that we have the whole entire screen shot parts. We can extract it. Click "CTRL+E" to bring up the Selecting Blocks menu. For the first block input that number we wrote down awhile back. Mine was E148 (Yours should be identical if your screenshot size was the same)

Now this should automatically select all the texts which is the screen shot. Simply click "CTRL+C" (to copy it)

Now make a new file and paste all of that text you selected into it

I forgot to get screen shots of this but its fairly simple. Once you've pasted the new code in go to "File, Save as..." Then name is anything.jpg Then close that image out of HxD. We now test the image, opposite click it and go to "Open with... Your image previewer"

Now my image loads succesfully. So we can now edit that image. NOTE: DO NOT CHANGE THE SIZE OF THE IMAGE

Once you've edited it, re-open that screen shot in HxD Hex Editor. If you get errors when trying to re-open the file, add .jpg at the end it should work. This is the file re-opened. Again you want to click "CTRL+C" and copy this to paste back into the container.

Go back to the screen shot container file, by clicking on it at the top. It should have your selection still saved, so simply click "CTRL+P" and paste over that. The text will turn red showing there was a change, simple "save it" to fix that
If you want you can use that instead of this app.

Seems like a roundabout way to go about it.
