If you could .map Mod, what would you make?

.Map Modding... What would you do?


Well, i don't know if this type of thread is allowed, but i thought why not. If it isn't allowed, do delete it, and im sorry.

Basically, just state what kind of maps, modifications you would like to create, if you had the power.
Ill start us off :)

( Of course im sure some of this is probably impossible; even with .map modding, but still... if you had the power to mod anything in halo. )

I would like to make a flyable pelican; as i never played any Halo 2 mods with it :(
I would also like to fiddle around with a map like avalanche or valhalla, and make the base much larger on one side, and then add some AI, and have them constantly attack the base, like zombies, but the hunters have limited ammo, and the zombies are in fact grunts with energy swords, which walk really fast :O

Haha. My ideas are so unrealistic.

Change many of the shaders to achieve a different style. Not dumb shit, subtle changes.

Pull together the pieces of the vortex equipment so it worked.
Create a ridiculous map where it was scarabs v elephants (elephants being much faster and more powerful and fairly resilient to scarabs: balanced)

flying warthog

urm let me see:

Sky base on Valhalla
Flying tankhog
Snowhalla skin
All projectile swaped
Invinrable
and just genral mayhem.

That is what I want to do, not what I have the capability to do..
Veegie and I discussed this in IRC last night. Want Beta MC shader in retail. Do it, mod slave.

Effects. I would modify explosion effects and see what I could come up with. Halo 3's effects are amazing and I could make them better. :)

I'de have to go with Tural and say, yeah, just a few simple tweaks like removing the barriers and moving spawns to some of the incredible looking areas outside of the mp and sp maps. So much beautiful scenary that can be explored and exploited!! :mrgreen:

That would be awesome.

I would personally make a few shader swaps to make certain maps look cooler. Id also maybe make the BR single shot, with more power per bullet of course.

Flood-infested Vahalla, first, I would guess.

That includes, atmosphere, AI, decorations, etc.

1. I'd make Infection, Flood Infection.
Everyone as Humans/Elites/Brutes (Random perms).
Alpha Zombie = Flood Pureform (3 Bipeds to cycle through using up on D-pad)
Tank Form, Strong, but slow, Best for CQC and also can Spit out (AI) Flood Infection Forms
Stalker Form, will be able to run Fast.
Range Form will be able to Sniper out Humans.

If an Infected Player has lived for more than [Timed Option], then they will turn into Flood Carriers.

2. I'd also want to do 16 player co-op, the MPC way. :D

Crap haha I shoulda read the post I thought the topic title meant what can you do if you could mod maps.

Anyways I'm with Tural. Remaking maps in terms of style, or even creating your own maps but keeping original gameplay is the shit. That's what made all the great Halo 2 Mods. =)

For the people who can do this, and have done their own research have done most of what has been said, and more.

Other than that stick to Halo 2 :wink:

You would have to wait awhile. But that kind of mod would be worth it.

I'd make it fly. Flying mobile bases ftw.

I would scale up small maps and make them large, and vice-versa. Giant Guardian? Yes please.

Also, i remember before HALO3 was released they showed off a map which looked like an urban style map, with broken buildings; but it turned out to be the pit, but with a different skin and set of lighting.

Id probably make that; as it did look pretty bad ass :D

vallhalla, with grunts driving AA wraiths (ai), and flamethrower turrets. A pelican flies over head fighting a phantom, and hunters and spartains come out of their respective drop ships.
