I followed that tutorial about how to change the grenade placed on top of the covered bridge on High Ground, but it didn't seem to work for me, I'll tell you exactly what I did to see if I may have skipped a step or an important element.

1- I got an xport360 and the programs Forge and Halomods container tool.

2- opened up forge, and placed the frag grenade on top of the covered bridge, then saved as a new map.

3- turned off my console, removed the hard disk, then placed it on my xport360.

4- opened xport360, then browsed to the hard disk, then I found the usermap I just made, so I dragged that single file to my desktop.

5- I then opened forge, and my usermap, browsed to the frag grenade I placed, then I replaced it with a bipd chief, then I saved that section, then I went to >tools>resign all.

6- I closed forge, dragged the usermap back onto my hard disk, and then I put the hard disk back on to my xbox 360.

7- I went to forge to open my map that I edited on my PC, and there was still a frag grenade on top of the covered bridge,

At this point I was confused, so I removed my hard disk, put it back onto my xport, opened up xport 360, dragged the file back onto the desktop, opened it in forge, and to my surprise, there was no frag grenade in the eqip drop-down, BUT, there was a objects/characters/chief in the new bipd section, meaning that forge did edit the map, but I don't know why the forge on the xbox 360 didn't display my modification.

Make 100% sure you load the map again when on your 360. What comes up first is from the Recent Maps list, so go back and select it manually (Select Map > Highground > Your mod). This seems obvious, but it's easy to forget.

I did, I tried the same map that I modified on my PC, but there is still a frag grenade on top of the covered bridge.

OK, is your map 116 kb or 176 kb?

Then I don't know what to tell you. Try Sandbox instead of Forge, and see if that makes any difference.

I tried sandbox, container edits, and Forge, and I really don't know what to do!

I haven't tried Forge modding yet, but are you sure that you're editing the correct fragmentation grenade? You could be editing one like, down on the beach or something and not know.

I would suggest editing all the frag grenades in some manner, resign it(maybe a couple times for assurance), and then put it back on your drive.

After you've modded the usermap on your computer try deleting the unmodded version from your harddrive Before putting the modded one back on your harddrive

Idk if it will help but its how I do it everytime I transfer a newly modded map to my harddrive and I haven't had any problems

it is exactly the correct fragmentation grenade, I placed it exactly where the guy did in the tutorial, and it had the same x, y, and z coordinates.

make sure you use a canvas map to begin with. Its possible to do it with a normal map, but i'd still suggest a canvas map. I was having the same problem b4

this happened to me three times before i could get any of my maps to work. so just as a point of reference that helped me:

always start with a blank map to start.
once you pull the map off your drive, plug the hard drive back into the 360 and delete it.
when saving the modified usermap give it a name like instead of the "random" hex on the end of the zeros replace 4 characters with TEST (which is 4 characters)
finally reselect the map in the lobby so it shows the loading bar and such

You know the only part you need is the usermap part right? You can name it anything after usermap, even delete the zeros.

are you sure you are resigning it to your console.
also are you rehashing the CON file?

Yes I'm resigning it to my console, (sometimes there are different numbers, but I know why, and I change the profile IDs appropriately).

I think that uralllame had the same problem:
I tried it.... and I think it works. It took me a couple of tries to get the right device ID though.

I tried spawning loads of weapons on the map, then opening the container and replacing the weapon identifiers with a flamethrower. When I loaded the map in Halo, none of the weapons I "replaced" spawned. Do I need to do something else. The good news is that it loaded, so I think it works.
So I read on, and I think that Unilat had asked the question about rehashing:
So, I am curious. After extracting the usermap file from the container file and editing, is there a necessity to rehash with the other program in this section?

Or does the CON resigner defeat the purpose of rehashing the map? Just trying to get my head around having all these different programs for basically one purpose Shocked
But grimdoomer responded with this:
After you inject it, this is the only app you need to make it playable on 360.
when he says "injecting" does he mean the automatic process that forge uses to open the usermap?

I think he means that when you inject the sandbox.map file back in to the usermap file all you needed to to is resign it with the resigner and you can play it on the xbox 360. If i rember right you had to extract the sandbox.map file from the usermap container to edit it with sandbox but i think forge v2.3 can open the user map file.

I could be wrong about that because i haven't forge moded yet.

Yes. Forge can open the usermap directly with no extracting.
