The Bad News First

Recently, we’ve seen a moderate influx of things appearing in File Shares that don’t belong there. Some this is just tweaked content from Halo 3 that has been uploaded in sundry and illegal fashions. In fewer cases, there have been a relatively small number of incidents of folks uploading inappropriate non-game content to the File Share.

Fair warning: Users who have modified content on their File Share - regardless of who created said content - will be subjected to the full power of the Banhammer’s thrust. This includes some never-before-unleashed technology that will effectively terminate your Halo multiplayer experience online in every imaginable facet. In fact, the ban is so thorough that simply calling it the Banhammer is a complete understatement. I just couldn’t come up with a more hyper-exaggerated term that had the same feel. Banplatform? Banpocalpyse? Banmageddnon? None of those did the trick.

ruh roh. Well it's those users stupid fucking fault for doing it. They have been told, by them and by us not to upload it to their file shares on Bungie.net.

I'll ban anyone doing the same from this site as well. Using the File Share for modding is going to be the taboo like 'modding on Live' was for Halo 2, for Halo 3.

Already read this, as Nuclear said, thats why HMDB was created.

Our downloads board does the same thing.

Even though I know we weren't supposed to do that.. I was sorta hoping that it would expand maps in a GOOD way..

See nothing bad is gonna happend with released con resigner, people get banned for having it on fileshare but they still can play mods by keeping stupid images and mods off the fileshare which solves the main problem for halo 3 with the non halo related images.

Its good to see that the Banning system works better then for Halo 2 ^_^

I'm just curious, I don't have any modded forge variants nor am I capable of doing it.

As long as they don't ban the USE of modified content I'm down with that.

well what will happen if you have a picture of playing on the first leaked maps will that get you banned. Only reason i ask is a friend has it up but he doesn't following the modding circles, just along for the ride and it would suck to see him banned

No. And the leaked maps are no different to Bungie as any other modded usermap...

Looks like Bungie took the first step in preventing Xbox Live Cheating . Time for them cheaters to get what they deserve.
