How about bitmap extraction? Is that possible yet? I have Halo 2 models, but the textures are terrible, I would love to have the higher resolution ones in Halo 3.

You realize they would not work together at all, right? Also, the size of textures is not significantly larger. And no, bitmaps cannot be extracted either.

Bitmaps can be extracted, some people doesn't want it to be extracted, but as Tural said it wouldn't match with the h2 model and h3 uses 512x512 bitmaps as higher resolution too.

Bitmap raws are encrypted just like model raws are, if bitmaps could be, models could be too.

Yeah that's why i got all h3 retrail models (all spartan variant which were not on h3 beta) with textures and also bumpmap hmm? :roll:

Are the Halo 3 bitmaps UV'd the same way the Halo 2 ones are? Are they laid out on the canvas the same? Here is the Halo 2 one:

Copyrighted materials.

If they are laid out the same, then I could do with just the bitmaps, I don't even really need the models since the Halo 2 ones look so good. However, it would be nice to be using the models, as well.

I thought the point of your post was to say that extracting models and bitmaps was impossible. I'm almost 100% positive it isn't becuase of what you linked me to on Yayap, but I'm sure I could be wrong. I was actually trying to ask mr. neo about the bitmaps, not saying that you don't know, but he says he has them, and your rules clearly stated that discussion of model and bitmap extraction (asset extraction, for that matter) was prohibited until 9/25/07. As it is now 6/25/08, I assumed it was ok to ask for these files. I'm not going to use them for any commercial purpose, I just want to make some short films. Jean-Luc is using in-game models and textures from Halo 3 (as far as I can tell), and no one's jumping down his throat, he's going to be reanimating the cutscenes.

Extraction was possible from the Halo 3 beta. NOT from Halo 3 as of yet. ALL raw data (bitmaps, models, sounds) are compressed. Imagine having a RAR file on your computer and you don't have WinRar on your computer. They have to figure out how to extract the files from it's compressed form.

Actually, I do know of what you're talking about now. Slipped my mind because nobody seems to give a shit, including me. I've long since given up any hope that anyone is going to do anything worthwhile for public use, so I have stopped pursuing information and resources in all forms.

I am overqualified to state what I have stated. My answer was correct, both times I stated it. I have the bitmaps, I know what I am talking about. Also, redistribution of copyrighted materials is illegal, and you will not get the files on this site. And to further clarify, the models shown on Yayap were from the beta, as Eaton said. I was proving that it is based on what you know, not how the program functions.
