In fact, don't click the ads at all unless you're really interested! If google closes my account we're off alot worse.

He just said not to do it unless you're genuinely interested. Why are you ignoring the admin and boosting hits, potentially getting his account closed, and taking what little funding the site has away?
...
Don't do it.

I'm quite disappointed in this, but I'm inclined to agree with iGeo.

Halo CE/PC are essentially done. Halo 2 is done, and I'll tell you why, or so I believe.
There are no more goals. Almost everything that we've wanted to do, has been done. There are no more big projects that we're excited about.
There are the "Community Project: Animations" topics, and the like, that Grimdoomer has started, but there are no real gains from that.
For example, when Trulife started AI in MP. I logged onto this site every day, and went straight to that topic, because I wanted to see progress, and I wanted AI in MP. Same with SP-MP BSP Conversions. The overall community project toward a single goal is what excites people. Halo 2 doesn't have that anymore. Nor do Halo CE/PC. There's nothing new to look forward to.

In Halo 3, the sky's the limit, at this point. Nothing's been released, less than a fraction of the possibilities have been shown, and what has been shown, has only wet my appetite for the future. Halo 3 would, quite literally, bring everyone back to the scene. Should it go public, membership would skyrocket, because there are so many things in the game to look forward to.

But I see the issue; apparently it's possible on retail, and release of the method would make it public. And making it public means that Live is killed, for awhile.

Now, let's assume that what I've said is true, and Halo 3 is the sole thing that can save HaloMods.
I would recommend that the current community find a way to regulate modifications placed on Live. I can't imagine a possible way how one would go about doing it.
Has anyone tried communicating with Bungie, about it? Say, preparing them for an influx of Live modding? Or, say, waiting until they're prepared. Possibly having an agreement; giving names of those who mod on Live, and not doing it ourselves?

I know that I can't imagine any suggested solution would work. There's always a backstory or unknown circumstances to a situation like this. But if we want to keep halomods up, we have to find a way to fix this issue.

I agree with you, Anubis. I really have nothing to look forward in Halo 2 anymore. I've basically done all I wanted to accomplish since I first started in 2007. The only thing that I am looking forward to is Mutation. That could motivate me to make more mods. I have a lot of things to look forward to in Halo 3. New vehicles, equipment, more weapons, better effects, more tags to explore and edit, etc. Such great modding possibilities... Everyday I wish I could do the things I see people do on a devkit, but I am limited to modding usermaps. Something that satisfied me for 5 minutes last year.

It has nothing todo with live, and everything to do with fame. And I for one would leave this site if it is publicly released. I don't know about you, but just looking at the Halo 3 modding section makes me want to throw up, eat it, and throw up again. The stupidity is beyond outragous. It's to much to handle, and for what? Pretty much anyone who joined in early 08, is complete jackass. Even if halo 3 modding was possible, who would finish researching it? Shade45, Prey, Iron Forge, XIU, Nick, Pokecancer, and many many more are gone. The others, keep most of this behind closed doors.

The one thing I hate, is that this topic has been going for a little while now, and not one change has been made. A couple good starting changes have been suggested but nothing has been done. I know people are busy, and this is not directed at any one specific, but it would be nice to actually try out the things suggested. It's pointless to have a topic asking "What changes do you think we should make?", and not actually make any changes.

This topic is getting to redundant. Either make changes or don't but I can tell you now that there is not much clinging members to this site. Unless some changes are made, people are gunna leave. This is not to be taked as a threat, but really we're 5 pages into this topic and no changes have been made.

Wait, when did the Halo modding wiki turn into a Halo 2 wiki?

Like Tural said, it's been three days. You can't seriously expect us to implement any changes in such a timespan. I told you on AIM one day ago that I was busy and would look into things next week, and now you come on to the forum and post this?

You're demanding instant changes, while at the same time telling us that the Halo 3 section makes you want to "throw up over and over" - and use that as a reason not to release any Halo 3 related information. You shouldn't be posting this stuff in a complaints thread (telling the users they're "jackasses" and making senseless demands): if you really want to help out, release your supposed Halo 3 knowledge on these boards instead of boasting with it here.

How can you complain about other members like this. They posted more constructive things than you did.
Wait, when did the Halo modding wiki turn into a Halo 2 wiki?
It would be a general Halo wiki.

Well, for what it's worth, I certainly appreciate the site being able to remain open. I've gotten used to the new layout and have come to like the new features of BB3.

I'm curious though, does an increase in traffic mean a direct increase in ad revenue? Also, (just a random idea), I know that often websites have those sort of setups where you can click on ads / complete free offers in order to gain points or prizes. Maybe something like that could be set up for the people who wish to help out but don't have spare change?

I never said I had any knowledge of it, and I don't. I'm using it as an exscuse? No. I never said I had any knowledge of it that wasen't released. Have you looked in that catagory latley? obvisouly not because you would understand what I'm talking about. Maybe I am demanding changes, but this site has been declining for the past 4 years, I think people should be demanding changes.

What changes are there to be made? Look the premise of this site was to show off halo pc mods THEN Halo 2 came out and it we switched gears to that. And now Halo 3 is out and we're pretty much fucked. Even if we could transfer h2v custom bsp's over to h2x that still wouldn't spark enough people to reignite this site, that's it for halo 2. Hacking the 360 is possible well better said hacking halo 3 not the xbox is possible. You just need a HUGE amount of people to take part in a big project that wont go any where cause no one could ever work together long enough to actually get it done. So what do we do now? either remain a place where friends who once shared a common interest just come and hang out, Or we mod something else. Only options don't look for other changes, Cause quite frankly there are none.

Sorry for being harsh but we need to come back down to earth.

@Trulife. I agree for the most part. Although not much Halo-related modding is going on right now it is not completely dead. It is dead enough for this site to start becoming a money pit (which is why this topic is here), but there is still some modding to be had.

Wow, honestly I'm pretty surprised. There are plenty of ill-informed people on the Halo 3 modding boards, but there were just as many (if not more) when halo 2 modding was big. The only difference here is that the ratio of productive posts to pointless posts is more in favor of the pointless with Halo 3 because there is less productive information to post. Also, there are still some very intelligent and motivated individuals here interested in Halo 3. Those people you mentioned all had to join this site at some point, so who's to say we cant have new members that end up being as helpful as older ones?

I understand that there where stupid people when the other Halos came out. But this time it is just stunning. The same topics get posted, with the same questions over and over. "Hey I KNOWS HOW TO HAX!!", "An Idead On .Map Modding", ".Map Modding and It Will Work!!!". I don't how we can have a 60 paged topic that covers what is possible and what isen't, and still get retarted things like this.

So why the hell is it that I can't load a topic without it taking 20 seconds..... Maybe its all the retarded ass ads there is. My suggestion is you find a more efficient way of doing your ads or your going to lose a lot of users.
