I'm going to try to keep this short.

A forum works like this:
Topics that warrant discussion get discussed, and are "bumped" to the top of the first page.
Topics that don't warrant discussion, don't get discussed, and fall down the list, replaced by discussion worthy topics.
If there is nothing more to discuss, the topic will die.

The forum does this by itself.

My point is that this is both unnecessary and counter-productive to discussion:

If my point isn't clear, I have at least another 57 pages of topics that need locking.

I agree that that topic should not be locked.

So we shouldn't lock anything, because it will naturally die. Okay, cool.

Nothing new was being contributed to that thread, other than it starting to die, only to be knocked back up because someone else has seen it, and wants to contribute their opinion on the film, which happens to be... wait for it... the same as everyone elses.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the film... but what more is there to actually discuss?

8 Pages of almost identical reviews about the film being good and how Ledger played a good Joker was starting to get boring. It won't die naturally, because people will continue to see this film, and continue to post the same thing as everyone else.

So when something gets spammed now, I won't lock it... because eventually the spam will stop and the topic will die. Cool.

I don't like the way you approached this though, I mean... I rarely lock topics, so to say something like "How I Learned to Stop Locking and Love phpbb" I think is both wrong and out of line.

I'm a guy with a sense of humor. This topic was just to bring up the recent locking in general, not of you in particular, and that topic specifically. Nothing personal, despite the topic title.
