Yes, he did call you an ass. You're right as far as the end of that thread goes. I'll withdraw my statement on my post ending the argument. Still, the way you handled from the start is what's on the discussion. JK-47 & Bibbit: So if I'm a cop, and I see a bully hit a younger child, I should shoot the bully? Because by your logic, I "got the job done". No more bully amirite? There's a good way to handle almost everything. The whole point of this topic (aside from demoting Tural) is the way things are handled around here. If you read my whole post, you'll see that I posted rules straight from the Staff forum on Moderator conduct. The rules that a Staff member follows when they volunteer. i.e. You don't shoot the bully.

Hah. Your point is amusing, but it doesn't really change anything. Just says the guy who wrote them was a terrible hypocrite. The words written are still valid rules.

Leaving the staff is as simple as going to groups, hit Staff link, and remove yourself from the group. You chose not to and remain staff. Therefore, you volunteered by remaining.
Uh, yeah... I don't know where this idea that you were forced to become a Staff member came from. By all means, quit, while I would prefer you don't as you're probably the best suited for the job, I wouldn't really lose any sleep over it. There's always someone else that can take your job.

But in reality, I really don't see where this argument is going.

Tural isn't going to be demoted unless he wants to, or he breaks a rule rather more extreme than, oh i'm sorry, I don't even see any real rules broken except for going slightly off topic. Lt slap a ho, on the other hand called a staff member a "fucking idiot" and in reality just made too big of a deal of things. Tural, although it was an unofficial competition, did nothing wrong when pointing out a suggestion was breaking the rules. If another user had posted what Tural did, would that be any different?

Honestly, this is being taken much too far than it really should have. I agree with RaVNzCRoFT... this should have been handled before a big argument broke out like this.

A lock for the current discussion would be inappropriate. I don't appreciate a topic that attacks a single user, but I direct my posts in a broader perspective. Like I said, nothing against Tural, but it is true that the Staff who volunteered for their jobs and agreed to follow the rules of conduct are not following them as they should. That is my point. I've seen these rules many times. I also admit to not following always following them myself when I was staff, so this is not something that should be ignored, It's not even something that would be remotely difficult to fix...As a matter of fact, it would even make things easier for the staff. It was the one and only good thing I ever saw Aztec write.

To be blunt though, we do act a lot nicer as staff than we would if we weren't staff. Being staff does impact behavior. If we weren't, we'd have a lot more freedom and would probably be involved in many more questionable situations. The "following the staff guidelines" thing is so extreme as well. You take something which is not specific, try to apply it to specific situations, which ends up going to each person's interpretation, and then act as if it happens all of the time. If you took all of the staff member's posts, I bet you'd be hard pressed to find 1-2% of them that occur in these ways. Nobody notices when someone does something good, but as soon as they do something the member doesn't agree with, everything gets blow way out of proportion.

Well, I don't doubt that you guys have done plenty of good. Hence why I don't want you demoted. And I for the most part agree with the rest of your post. Though I'm never one to just deal with things standing still. If things could be better, I'd rather see them become better. I mean nothing mean-spirited against the staff when I post.

I read your post Shout, and I agree with you. And no, I don't believe cops should shoot bullies, but as you stated yourself, this isn't a professional forum. I didn't really even see Tural being mean in that topic in the first place, he handled it an a good manner, from what I saw. I don't believe in over-harshness, though. It may have appeared so in my previous post, but if the staff are directly insulting members in harsh manor, then yeah, I'm not going to like it.
In this case, Tural took the situation that Lt Slap a Ho started, and tried to stop it. Lt slap a ho decided to keep the argument going and Tural continued to try to stop it.

I'm honestly surprised that this is such a big deal. I've gotten worse crap from the staff and complained, yet no one gave a damn.

It's not really a big deal; it's actually a rather minor issue. No harm in resolving it. The topic was never about Tural trying to stop it, it was merely how he stopped it. You've stated that you don't feel Tural was out of line, and that's fine. I'd actually prefer it if this topic weren't so much about Tural as it should be about the way things are handled in general. Tural can be a fine Staff member.

I agree, however- no offense to Danke, as he has as much right as anyone to post his opinion- this topic started off to be kind of an anti-Tural thread, and has kind of continued to be so. Most of our staff members do well in keeping things in line, and I rarely see them throwing harsh comments at other members. Sure, I believe they should be addressed when they happen.

Like Coco-Fang said, they are the staff, they run the place. Staff are the cowboys of HaloMods. Do you know who makes the law's? The Cowboys.

May not be paid to run the site but as staff still have a obligation to keep in line with everyone else no one is above the law.
I dont see charity workers walking about with a large knife under their coat or insulting customers.

Say what you will, but Tural moderates Halomods more than anybody else. This place would be a mess some days if Tural weren't taking care of the crap that a lot of people cause. Without Tural and people like him to fix the problems, I most likely wouldn't come here. I hate messes.

Well, this thread hasn't been going anywhere for a while. Cleaned up the posts that weren't contributing to the discussion, and were only stating personal opinions, which isn't what this is about. If someone has a legitimate post to add to the discussion of the issue, let me know and this can be unlocked. Otherwise, this really isn't satisfying the purpose the creator intended.
