I'm even confusing myself.... just delete all my posts or something.

Now, I remember that in a Bungie update they stated that there was a last minute idea that took purple reign out of the heroic map pack

Well, on the second article, the date is, October 6, 2007. Which means that the map appeared pretty polished less than a month after the game released.

Which would make it quite odd for them to delay it in the last mappack.

Maybe they just had a change of plans, none the less it looks promising.

As was obvious from the weekly updates. That's not some new revelation. However, "polished" is certainly not the word to describe it. It is very obviously still in heavy development in those images.

Maybe it was a untouched area from the level Cortana.

Bungie did say purple Reign will be perfectly symmetrical. Good chance its the real deal but I wouldn't go to far with this.

If anyone wanted to know, the picture was taken on Oct. 5, 2007. He is not working on a campaign map, or a map we have already seen.

It could be the new map, but it could also have been something scrapped from Halo 3. Either way, looks cool.

They would not be working intently on something that got cut a month after the game released.

What ever it is, it looks cool... Seems like a new Midship type map.

No that's nearly identical to the one in campaign.
In fact, I see no differences to the actual model on the right.

But in said campaign, the walkways are much shorter and connected to an outer platform, which doesn't appear to be visible in the image. In addition, I can't imagine a practical reason for having a 3+ year old map open.

If it is the part I remember, the only difference is the cover on the walkways and it is less than half the length of the new mesh.

Because that's how they start remakes etc.
"___ was still there because we literally began work on Avalanche by modifying Sidewinder" (or something to that effect)
Or it's for reference.
Or it's old footage.

I still think it looks like a fun map, but I can't completely judge it just by one screenshot.
