Maybe you got 11 kills, and 2 of them were suicides

He got 7 kills, but he got two extra points for no reason.

The only thing I could think of is that maybe the gametype gives bonus points for something...

It's likely. That's really not all that far fetched. Based on one person quitting, I would say he was likely the host, and the lag occurred as he quit.
Lag can screw a team out of an entire round of assault. >=|

I lost a game due to this.
We had one kill to win, they needed 3, lag happened and they come back with 3 extra kills and they're kills to score was different.

That happend to me once, I got 3 extra kills.
