Quite a lot... If you assume the books are accurate, which is safe to say, then we already know that he's a Caucasian male, we know his hair color (I don't remember, though)...
I think most people prefer to keep the MC anonymous because it just adds to his almighty Covenant-pwning aura.

well if youve played socom fireteam bravo online you should know about victory dances and if youve done them enuf youd know about the backflip you can do i think that at the end there should be a cuts scene where the cheif piles the mangled corpses of the prohets gravemind tartarus and tural's staff abilities climb on top do a backflip victory dance and whoops his helmet falls off

I dont see how that would ruin Master Chief's personality.
Master Chief is basically human, he still gets scared, he still gets angry. Hes just an augmented guy with several hundred pounds of armor.

I think the intro should be the commercial. And the story should start like that so it could really be a much more extended campaign.
