I don't know anything about such modification, but from your description that seems like a really good explanation.

Goddamit!

Ok, there were three people who sent the picture, they all remove it after they use it.

I reported them, but I wouldn't have though Microsoft would have removed it so quickly.

I don't see how they get it to their xbox though? I tried downloading it, maybe it works through bungie.net only.

So if anyone comes across it be sure to get it to Tural or someone quickly, I don't know what to do with it, and you can't save it.

If you can't save it but other people know how to do it, then, ....?

From Bungie's News Today.

Mr Megabucks asks: Is there anything being done to get rid of the people sending those screenshots that make your Xbox freeze up? And maybe ways to keep screenshots like this off Xbox Live permanently?

Our detection tools have located the files and have been pretty vigilant about erasing them. Once things like this are found, we’re as nimble as we can be in eliminating them. This particular issue was traced to one single file and one particular bug which has been resolved. However, anyone who is found to be propagating this file is subject to the banhammers wrath.

It said they would talk about the update next week. Hopefully they can do something about it using AU2.

I wonder how they claim they resolved the bug without patching the game, unless they just screen the file before it reaches the console. Meh.

They never said they fixed the bug, they just said they have found better ways of detecting them and deleting them.

@Unknown

I'm pretty sure that they just developed better method(s) of detecting the exploited screenshot (as Luxurious has already said). When they say the "resolved" the bug I think they mean just that; that they can now detect it and erase it.

But I'm also pretty sure (from both the explanations of the exploit and Bungie's history on dealing with exploits such as modding) that they are just saying that so people don't panic and get mad at Bungie (and so it doesn't attract any unwanted attention from blogs and stuff). I mean just look back at how Bungie told its community that all modders were being banned. They were being banned, but only after so many hours of playing Halo 2.

So if the sreenshot is just corrupted in some way (as most of us think) then all Bungie should have to do is implement a check to make sure the file is not corrupt. Of course that won't stop people from uploading tainted screenshots, but it will stop the freezing exploit.

What are your thoughts on this guys?

I said pretty much the exact same thing already, and your post was directed at me, not unknown, because he is not the one who brought it up.
