Neat Elephant Trick

Post by Nemihara »

On Forge, place a ton of fusion coils in the Blue team Elephant. Then load up the map for One Flag CTF/Assault. The Elephant disappears, as you know, but the fusion coils fall down from the sky roughly in the middle. I suppose that's because the Elephant is 'unused' in these gametypes, and subsequently spawned at the top of the map, invisible. However, the stuff that was on it spawns up there and falls down.

That is not what happens.

Oh, well. It was a guess.

The Elephant does not spawn at all. It isn't hidden somewhere, it just doesn't spawn. Spawning it would just waste resources for no reason. The objects placed on it get sent to the origin, since their spawn location no longer exists. That is why they appear near the middle.

So the origin's at the top of the map? Interesting. Does that mean that the origin coordinates are 0-0-0?

I don't know if it utilizes the Z axis, but I'm fairly confident the X-Y location it spawns at is (0, 0).

Just a tip - if you're making a forge map, and you want something on that elephant, but you don't want it to still spawn at the origin when there's only 1 elephant, make sure to set all of the objects on it to only spawn in SYMMETRICAL games.
