Well I dunno but my though of what the X button does is actually a customizable button that varies from profile to profile. Like there would be a list of what you wanted the X button to do for the profile of mine Mkg. Like Prone, roll, slide? I dunno one of those any many more. so it would be like this
Profiles:
Mkg, X button does a Dive roll
OWENage, X button goes to prone
Spyborg, X button does a wall sneak/peak
This is just my thought, a customizable button for user to have special moves =\.

ok well judjing by what ive heard + read in the books so far i think that the x button will be used for one of these things
1) the fail safe in the suit (aKa when your close to death you push x after you die your suit detonates in 3 seconds)
2) the sheild nade (less likely because if this was in the game it would probably be in SP)
3) Grapple (also less likely but it would still be cool you are in close quarters with your opponent you push x and grab them then you cuold knee them in the gut to stun them temporaly)
4) sheild EMP pulse ( like you push x your sheild overloads depleating everyones sheils near you again not likely)
5) an overveiw map (this would take tactics to a whole new level)
yes i know i cant spell so dont get at me

Yeah, I thought that as well (#1)
In ( I believe) Halo: First Strike, Grace (again, i'm pretty sure this is who) dies, and MC opens up the back of her armor, and activates a fail-safe thing, which makes her blow up with the force of a nuclear bomb or somthing to that effect... So it may very well be possible.

After reading some of the replies, I stopped, so forgive me if this has already been stated. The X button should be melee for the left hand just as B is for the right or it should be the way to sprint. I think bungie is implementing user customization hardcore in h3 so I'd expect to see control layouts selected like in pc games. As for taking cover or rolling... bungie isn

which is why i was saying that it would probly be the fail safe you would only activate it when your about to die to bring down some opponents with youTural wrote:It's something that is used (probably, based on the statement from 1up) when in trouble. I can't see it being sprint, because the other people could just sprint after you. I can't see it being a melee, that has nothing to do with winning or losing.

1) That isn't something you activate.{ST} 117 wrote:i dont think x is the shield nade. cos with the introduction of a super weapon, they will prolly have some sort of super defensive weapon aka the shield nade which will prolly be a item that is collected.
x= mc takes off his helmet

3) Pointless.
