The Halo Editing Kit is pretty much for all fully custom created content. Since...well...it's the...official editing kit. You forgot BlueStreak I think. The maxscript by TheGhost that allows .jms exporting in Gmax and 3ds Max without Blitz. Beats the crap out of chimp, and works for scenery/weapons ...

Use Halo Editing Kit Plus. HEK+, look for it at HaloMaps.org.

It can extract any Halo Map into it's full tag editable format.

Don't use SparkEdit, at ALL for any of this. Stick to the BSP Tag Converter. It'll convert a native structure BSP to .obj format with the UV's retained and no errors. Portalling, and other data can be retained as well.

The extracted BSP will be in the data\levels\test\BloodGulch folder.

Very nice, the rocks look less hard and more soft so that's an improvement. The lightning is phenomenal, as well as the underground pit. Thank you!
