Thanks for letting me know. The video was made in Vista using the 1080P wmv codec, so make sure your Windows Media Player is updated. I'll see what I can do about releasing a divx copy. Edit: Ok, DivX version is also up now, but you need a pretty fast computer to watch it in full speed. It does look...

End of Earth

I just wanted to announce to the community here that I have resumed the project that I started in THIS thread from a very long time ago.

why would you use halo pc for a video like this? I'm just curious why you would choose something with such bad graphics (based on a game from 5 years ago). It looks pretty well done, but how is this different from anything else out there? Maybe I'm missing the point.

Are you asking why there are no In Amber Clad class ships? If so, it's simply because the uvw mapping coordinates don't work very well on them. I believe the leviathans look awesome by themselves, as you will see soon. Alright, I've finally created a realistic explosion that would be acceptable for ...

i was just gonna suggest copying the alpha channel over the rest of the channels, but I think that Talin64 has the correct method.

updates are coming! I just need some time. I'm having trouble with the forunner ship that I'm using, but I'll talk about that later. The codec pack can be found HERE . Remember to get the "FULL" one and not to install the extra players it comes with, unless you want them. I prefer to run e...

I was using 3ds-max 7 but now I'm using 8 with sp1. I haven't noticed a single difference though.

I want the length to be around 2-3 songs so at least 6 or 7 minutes, max 10. Backburner is the tool that comes with 3ds-max that allows you to use other computers as "slave" renderers. Having many computers rendering one scene speeds up the render time many times over. I have 5 P4s on my r...

yeah, that scene was what this project started as, and now is much larger and greater. I wasn't even close to done with that scene, so I began this one instead. That one had no storyline or reason for being there and was more of a test of whether or not I believed animating a fight would be realisti...

lol, thus the filename "ship_test". It was a very old test that has been remedied since then. Most of the videos have dozens of imperfections that I'm constantly working on. Animation is much different than still image rendering in the fact that there are so many more variables that affect...

you're coming along, but I think you need to fix however you are doing your bumps. there is a great tutorial stickied over in the userforums by Platt that will help you significantly. oh, and dire, if you were talking about my scene in the end of your last message, then you can follow my progress HE...

actually, the image was a little dark so I just brightened it in ps. All of the lights are actually in the scene, but in the pic above, I accidentally have one of my "suns" on earth that shouldn't be. As for the stars, it's an issue that i'm aware of. I have been searching for a really hig...

ok, just "finished" my mac gun stations. I extracted "most" of it with the correct uvw maps, but many of the pieces were missing and I had to attemp uvw mapping by hand. Anyway, here's a shot of a few in the scene i'm working on. http://home.comcast.net/~halorenders_01/mac_gun_te...

Ok, I finished the mac gun yesterday. It isn't perfect because many of the textures don't fit correctly and the windows don't have "edges". It does look great from any distance greater than about 50 feet, so it's perfect for this scene. There is a quick render posted on the front page.

i basically just googled tileable textures and tested a bunch until I was happy. They're currently set to be tiled 20x for the rubber and 30x for the metal. The metal doesn't look "metal-ish" up close but I think it looks good from about 3-5 feet away. You should render the scene using HDR...
