Layer styles are useful when they are used correctly, but I'd stay away from the bevel / emboss effect for the most part until you have more experience with it. I only really use the bevel / emboss effect when adding gloss or a slight sheen to my layer. Example: http://www.whatswiththedino.com/uploa...

Don't pay attention to people that are notorious for saying a lot but not really explaining anything. Open the vehi tag in entity, check out the reflexives to see what it references. Veegie, this is support topic. Please try to be supportive if you are going to post in it; if you're not helping, you...

Specular color controls specularity just as much as specular level. leave glossiness at 15, set softness to 1.0 (in blinn shader params) and work from there.

http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/6632/mcmaterialbydeelekgolock9.png Its almost like its ingame. Any fixes needed? looks decent, but you are tiling the detail map way too much. specular map is incorrect; try a different approach. you can use some of my renders for reference. these were made in 3ds...

There seems to be aliasing underneath the left knee if not.
Also: What did you need a few days ago when you tried to DC with me on AIM?
I didn't need anything; I was just going to show you what a halo 3 spartan with accurate shaders looked like. No worries.

Well, see, the difference between that and this is that I was doing a lot of guesswork as to how the shad tags worked; there's no longer any of that.

the image you have of standoff is LDR, i guarentee it. And All HDR should be 32 bits, no matter what... 24bit is the most easily obtainable from three bracketed exposures and easily suffices in 3D rendering. For basic, yes, but most of the more advanced rendering techniques for lengthy cg films dem...

First off, disable hyphenation so you have proper journalistic copy...also justify your font in the copy blocks so it is easier on the reader and adheres more to the column-based layout.

you need to learn new lighting techniques outside of those found in tutorials...standard tutorial HDR lighting is not going to get you the perfect render every time; it's just an introduction to what you could experiment with to get potentially hyper-realistic results. new material, new pose: http:/...
